John started his investment industry career in the early 1990’s when he offered in a family office platform financial and wealth guidance to select members of his extended family. He became officially licensed in 2000 and joined Stifel in 2025. Prior to joining Stifel, John held management roles ranging from owning a privately held firm, to consulting with Fortune 100 corporations’ treasury departments, to simply sitting at the kitchen table with families on intergenerational wealth and investment strategies.
John’s breath of experience allows him to relate to a wide range of professionals, from CEOs to younger investors in entry-level positions, all with the same demeanor and level of service. His longevity in wealth management seeks to benefit clients of all walks of life.
As market cycles fluctuate between boom times and challenging times, John’s steady, experienced hand and disciplined approach seeks to help steer clients through turbulent waters. His background in working with client attorneys and accountants allows him to craft investment and wealth strategies that align with his clients’ tax and estate planning needs.
John earned a B.A. in Business and Economics from Vanderbilt University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law, and a Master of International Business Studies (MIBS) from the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business. He also holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses. John is an active member in the fiduciary section of the Georgia Bar Association, although he is a non-practicing attorney.
Outside the office, John enjoys staying active in his community. He and his wife, Caroline, are active at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick, Georgia, and John was a global commerce council member in the metro Atlanta chamber for many years. John is on the advisory board and was past chairman and vice chairman of the Historic Oakland Foundation in Atlanta, and he is the founding chairman of Panama Gateway International Association, a business educational public charity.
John and Caroline live in St. Simons, Georgia, and are proud of their two sons, Jack and Henry. Jack is the sports director for KXLY, the ABC television affiliate in Spokane, Washington, and John and Caroline enjoy watching his broadcasts. Henry has finished his graduate studies in video game design and applied games in Scotland, and John and Caroline know more about how to produce video games than they ever thought they would. When they get some downtime, John and Caroline love to travel and enjoy watching sports and movies.
